Alien

In 1979, a film was released that can only be called “groundbreaking” for its blend of sci-fi, horror, and H.R. Geiger-inspired imagery. That movie was, of course, Alien, directed by the acclaimed Ridley Scott, who would go on to direct Blade Runner, Thelma and Louise, Gladiator, Black Hawk Down, and a host of other award-winning films. And a couple of clinkers, but nobody with his kind of career can win them all.

But despite some issues (which we detail on the individual production), the Alien universe would prove to have the staying power to spawn a franchise, with three sequels, four prequels (2 of them crossovers with another popular sci-fi/horror franchise, Predator), and a stand-alone movie scheduled for release the summer of 2024.

The Tombs of Kobol doesn’t have pages on many of these films; we call on fans of this remarkable universe to step up and help us fill in the gaps. But in the meantime…
