Battlestar Galactica originated as a concept by Glen Larson called "Adam's Ark", and premiered on ABC TV on 17 September 1978.  Since then, it has undergone a number of reiterations, some good and some bad.

Thanks to our members, contributors and various Friends, Tombs of Kobol is pleased to provide some of the most comprehensive reporting on the life of this iconic science fiction television series available; the section on the 1978 series includes information about the three major attempts to revive the show, and the page on the 1980 incarnation of that universe details that short season, warts and all.

Most recently, beginning 8 Dec 2003, The Sci-Fi Channel has aired a totally "reimagined" Battlestar Galactica that truthfully bears little resemblance to the 1978 show.  The new concept began with a controversial miniseries that greatly upset many fans, yet enticed others.  Tombs of Kobol invites you to learn about the various renderings of a series that has continued to enjoy a loyal fanbase since it first aired in 1978.
